Of the most likely hands to call your PFR, the only ones you have beat are the missed pocket pairs below you and AK. And if he was chasing he hit his flush or some fishy straight draws. So unless you think he is a REAL deep thinker and thinks you're CBetting and smelled turn weakness....ya right.

check/fold the flop or check/call if they bet very weakly.

Passive would be checking the flop. You were right to bet there heads up. Saving money when OOP and behind is not passive. Well played IMO.
