This hand is from the current main event, I thought it was intresting enough to analyze since it contains a lot of tricky decisions...
Under the gun, Sean Johnson raises to $3,500. A player in late position calls and the player in the big blind raises the minumum, to $7,000 total. Johnson calls and the player in late position calls. The flop brings the
:Tc: , and Johnson leads out for $9,000. The player in late position raises to $15,000 and the player in the big blind moves in for approximately $30,000 total. Both players call, and all three flip up their hands. The late position player shows his :Ks: :Ts:, for top pair with a flush draw. The player in the big blind shows :As: :Ah:, and Johnson shows :Jh: for an open ended straight draw. The turn brings the :Ac:, taking away some of the outs for the flush draw. The river brings the , giving Johnson a straight and the pot and eliminating both of his opponents. Johnson now has approximately $210,000.
What do you guys think of this play?
My comments: The biggest mistake in my opinion was to only raise the minimum amount with AA, since it made a 3-way action very likely. Your goal should be to isolate, I woulod have raised to at least 10000. The draw-heavy board gave all opponents the odds to push.
The second guy had a flush draw+top pair, hee seemed to think his top pair was good. Sould he have worried about an overpair after the reraise?
The third guy who won in the end even had the waekest holding IMO since a couple of his out where teinted by the flushdraw (which of course he couldn't know).
What do you guys think?
