100NL 8 handed.
UTG ($29) limps
I have A K and jack it up to $4.
SB refuses to fold ($123.61)
UTG raises to $7
I can't imagine folding, so I make it $20...
Same table
UTG limps ($49)
I have 4 4 and can't imagine limping here, so I raise to $4
Folded to UTG who calls.
Flop is A A 7
UTG checks, I rep the Ace and check behind.
Turn is T
UTG checks, I bet $7...
Different table 100NL 9 handed. Table was pretty wild, but I think I just missed the action as I saw a guy bluff off his stack with 22.
2 folds
EP limps ($100, just sat down)
I raise T 9 to $4
all fold.
$9.50 in the pot
Flop is Q 6 4
check, $7, fold.
same guy limps again!
I have A Q , gosh now I have a hand, well I just have to raise this to $4.
Folded to EP who calls.
$9.50 in the pot
flop is 3 5 T
Well, he sure didn't like folding to naked aggression. After tanking for about 10 sec he bets $3.5. I call
$16.50 in the pot
turn is A
He hesitates and bets $7, I raise to $21...

Let's see... "poker is a game about people, position and cards."
You can do nothing about the cards...
Since I can't TheFnord I guess I'll have to settle for uh ... ...
Love your post Fnord.

Why don't you just call the first hand? I mean UTG limp min raising has to mean strength, or most likely does. I'd just call and see a flop. if he had QQ he'd probably raise it up more.

Because UTG is a short-buy, I like to gamble and I don't want the deep money hanging around to out-flop me or take a cheap look with a pair (thanks for the $4.) If you have 30bb at my table you've earned the right to unlimited action from me until I have a reason to do otherwise.

Yeah, but his line could be AA/KK.

Everything looks pretty good except for this. Raising the turn like you did only gets action from hands that beat you, unless your table image has been so wild and aggressive that you think villian could call you down with a hand less than TPGK. I like calling here much better. Raising the flop would work a lot better than raising the turn like you did IMO.

Calling sucks because I'm giving any random heart a free strong draw and I'm pretty sure he's got outs I won't see if they hit. I make money here when he folds a small heart he's no longer sure of. Also, don't under-estimate the chances he makes a terrible call here.

Yeah, just had a feeling this guy was looking to show something down. I was probably good for one more pot without showdown. Still getting a feel for this.
