This style of play is almost certainly -EV over the long run. I made several posts in another thread about how much I like limping suited connectors in LATE position. Here you were in early position. To me, that's mistake #1.

Betting into a flushdraw disguises it if it hits, and gives you a chance to win the pot there. That said, he didn't fold. If this guy wasn't so passive, he'd have reraised your flop bet and you'd have just thrown $$$ down the drain. Betting the turn holds no +EV (again, aside from a slight disguise to your hand), but definitely loses money the 75% of the time your draw doesn't hit on the river. You can only win if a 2, a 3, or a diamond hits on the river. Otherwise you're paying this guy to be a calling station. TAKE THE FREE CARD.

You got lucky and made some $$ for it. Good show. But don't make plays like this a regularity. It will cost you over the long run.

ya I know it was very offensive play.

But at the turn I did figure about 30% chance to win, and to be honest I was hoping for him to just drop hes cards.

I had been playing very loose at that table for some time, buying alot of pots, and I figured this would just be another one, the bonus of a flush set or two pair draw was just icing on the cake.

Generally I dont play crap like this, at least not in full table games =)

From the hand histories that I've seen you post, I'm not sure I believe you. You play a lot of poor hands.

There's an article in a recent Card Player magazine that talks about how poker is about making few mistakes and forcing your opponents to make costly mistakes (the basic tenet from Sklansky's Theory of Poker). Poor starting hand selection is mistake #1 and, over time, will be your costliest mistake.
