Yea, probably want to hit the flop harder to chase away the straight draws. Either way, at this limit people will chase Gutshots to the river...

How's that saying go?? "If you don't lose a lot of money with a set, then you played it wrong." Something like that.

How deep are the stacks here?? At this limit I have seen K4o (even Kx) making the same move, so I find a call here more often than not. If he has the straight, you still have 10 outs to the boat/quads. Call.
Hey knucklehead! Bonk!

Ya i was kinda thinkin the same.
They tend to slowplay alot but also like to go allin with the goods...they watch too much poker on TV.

I figured 2 pair or straight and said "screw it" and pushed actually. Think I should've just called.

River was
I hit the boat.
He did have 87o.
I am lucky.

Anyone else have some input?

I must be doing something right. I am up to $320 from $200 in a little over a week. Its like they're handing out money.

I would bet the pot on the flop ($0.50). Since you bet so little, you acutally give decent odds for the last guy to call with a gutshot to the nuts (97), not to mention implied odds. Without a read I would pay off a straight everytime here since it's 10NL. Also like Chris said, stack sizes are important. Was that $5.95 bet an all in, or were the stacks deeper?

Bad players.....check
Cheap flop with pocket pair.....check
Flop a set....check
Get all the money in the center....check

There is some merit to betting bigger because they will still call. I usually just pot it out of postion, get loose flop calls and stack people here and there at 10x these stakes.

Sets are g00t, if someone sucks out on you on the turn you can get the winning hand back on the river. Re-draw, baby!

It's not really a suckout if they have odds, which in this case they do with the low flop bet and a second caller. Bet .4 or .5 when there are two suited or a draw.

OR as Ultimate George showed in a post last week, you can play them slow in hopes to have a huge payday if you know they are on the draw and if you hit your boat. Hitting the boat is a big if, but with two people in a hand and a 30% chance the board pairs by the river, it may be worth it in some cases.

I second that emotion. You don't pussyfoot around at these stakes. Make a hand and go deep fast. Bad players will follow all day long with draws and bad pairs. Fold equity? PLEASE.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

The stacks were right about even at $10. I always keep my stack as close to full as possible.

I was hoping someone had a K and would bet strong but no one did.

I need to bet stronger at these pots but I didn't want to chase eveyone away. I just had a few hands where I had a set or overpair and everyone ran.

thanks for the advice. more questions to come for the FTR hive mind.

Pot it, and pot/push a blank turn. In this case, fold and give him credit for the straight. They're too passive to make this move without it. No odds for redraw. Calling might be +EV at 10NL though.
