first of all, I flopped the nuts and was delighted to see a bunch of people betting into me, so I smooth called. On the turn is where it got scary. "Thomasis" bet of $15 was a strong bet obviously to protect his set of queens. This is where I really did the thinking. No "good" holdem player would make such a strong bet on the turn IF he had a full house. He would only bet strong to chase away any draws. So I knew my straight was good even after the turn. The river was a 3rd diamond, but I was not worried about a flush because he obviously had a queen, and the queen of diamonds was on the flop. To my suprise he moves all in. I used my logic and reasoning to put him on KQ or AQ, everything seemed to make sense. I made the call, which I know some of you wouldn't and took it all down.

All my studying and thinking and hourse I have logged helped in this situation and I am just extremely proud of myself for the play

Please toss me some comments/suggestions

Only thing I would have been afraid of was the full house.

But if why not raise it like a min. raise of $3 more on the flop?

Only things that could have beaten you were a full boat, a flush or higher straight. But seems that you had a read against him you played it very well.

nice pot

It's dangerous practice to slowplay the nut straight into 3 other people. Other than that I don't mind it. I would have liked to see a raise on the turn though. He's demonstrated that he's got a monster and if he was a little bit more cognitive he coulda sniffed out your monster. (a big flat call?!) A raise would have better masked and protected your hand.

Yes, I brought a knife to this gunfight,
just the other day I mugged a mountain.
So bring that shit, I've had practice.

Thanks,
I recently switched from limit to NL, but I still play .50/1 on 'stars sometimes.

I personally probably would have raised the $3 flop bet. Allowing all of those other players to see the turn card could have burned you if a diamond came on turn. With 3 other players seeing the turn card it is very likely that at least 1 of them is on a flush draw. Luckily it didn't come on the turn and your opponent led out with a big bet, which probably chased the flush draws away for you. Even still I probably would have reraised his $15 turn bet just cause I like to be the aggressor if I have a vunerable made hand. Only potential problem I see is if the trip kings were checked on the turn and both of the other(potential flush draws) checked to you I hope you would have led out with a big enough bet to destroy there pot odds. Don't want to slow play yourself into the losing hand. A check by you at that point could and probably would have been disastrous, with 3 other players seeing the river card you would have to lay down your str8 with a flush now on the board if the betting had gotten heavy.

Well thats my take, NH
Gotta Love the Kowboys

Online poker tournaments fell off ever so slightly the past weekend, with tournament entries and prize pools finally seeing a drop after February's FTOPS and Billion Dollar Hand promotions. Fortunately this week saw a lot less chip-chops and more final table action. There were also some great final tables with a lot of recognizable faces including some of the best online tournament players in the world. The day started off with the Sunday Warm-Up which had been surpassing the $1,000,000 prize pool mark as of late.  While the tournament could not quite reach the seven-figure mark, it did remain in the #2 [...]
