Not bad, I like the flop check raise but as you've repped a flush or a set I think you have to lead the turn, checking seems to say "Oh shit, you called". His call indicated he has something, possibly Ah or an overpair. Still, against a tight player you have fold equity and probable outs.

 I don't like it at all.

Your check-raise bluff is too small and you don't follow through on the turn. I like a simple fold to his c-bet but if you really want to buy the pot, lead out or check-raise a respectable amount. From the looks of it, you are trying to buy the pot several times with nothing more then ace high.

Your post-flop play really has nothing to do with holding AK here, you might as well be holding 38o or something similar.

Mmm, he has a flush draw and two overcards. Very very different than check raising with 38o..

 My bad, I misread the flop. Didn't realize 3 hearts came down.

Even still, I hate the check raise hero pulls off. If that's the line you want to use, put in a real raise. Villain is getting about 3.5:1 to call on the flop.

I'm not a big fan of that line though here being OOP with a preflop agressor holding only overcards and a non-nut flush draw on a 3-flush board. If villain calls your CR, you are in a very awkward situation with significant money invested and being out of position with a draw. Compounding this is not knowing which of your outs (if any) are good.

I like a lead of about $2 on the flop here. It's so easy to fall into the trap of checking to the raiser when you are interested in a hand, but I think in this situation you have to establish that you are serious about playing the hand and villain needs something to continue.

Perhaps some explanation is in order

I was actually trying to buy a free river card with the CR; is this not an uncommon line when drawing? With this in mind, is it still appropriate to lead the turn?

Didn't lead out on the flop - didn't want to get raised. I saw that the cbet was weak so I decided to try the CR line.

I guess at low limits I can get away with a weak CR. Lukie - what size CR do you feel is appropriate?

You can't run a free card play from out of posistion without a read on your opponent. You are likely not to get the free card after checking the turn, and then you wasted the CR bet.
Leading the turn would make trying to obtain a free card a moot point. You just threw away the value in your "not-so-free" free card.

I think your raise to $3 if fine at these limits. $3-4 is the key. $5 or more looks fishy and will induce a fold by anyone not holding the flush or maybe a set.
