SB is a difficult beast when you're starting out. I'd check/fold the flop. If it's checked around and the turn brings a card less than 10, you can start firing away. It would appear the guy was on a flush draw, he'll be given very incorrect odds if it's checked on the flop and bet like that on the turn.
