Stupid Bugsysclub can't import hand histories, but this is how it went down.

This was in 1/2 NL.

I get dealt 3 off the button. I make it $8 to go. Everyone folds but the small blind, who has a big stack (because he sat down with one, not because he built it up), and seems like more of a gambler with a lot of money than a poker player.

Flop comes

Small blind thinks about it and bets the bot ($18 at this point). I call

Turn comes another blank. He bets $55, which is almost enough to put me all-in. I push for my last $10 or so.

River drops, another blank, he turns over and i drop my buy-in.

Should I have folded on the flop? How to get away from this...

You should have gone broke on the flop.
gg, nh.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

You don't think there's any way to lay this thinking 2 pair or a set? Or just one of those times when you have to bite the bullet and reload?

I suppose something like that is mostly read-dependant, but even though I don't play with him much I probably should've respected his post-flop aggression on that board a bit more.

I don't know, I just hate losing to 9 5 lol...boils my blood a bit.

It sounds like you had a ~90$ dollar stack. He called an 8$ PFR which he is getting bad implied odds to do so (AA has very good odds against 95o)Most of the time he just pairs the 9 or 5 and you double up. Occasionally he'll pair both and your f'ed, theres no way out of this hand with that small of a stack in 1/2 NL.
BR now: $106900
Playing now: $10/10/20 - $20/40 NL live, $10/20 NL full ring online, $10/20 NL 6-max online, $20/40 FL 6-max online, $100/200 FL live
Goal: $125000 for $25/50 NL live
