This went down last night... within the first five hands of me sitting down at a table, so I have zero reads.

Hand 3:
Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.10/$0.25
6 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $12.40
UTG+1: $23.75
CO: $22.80
Hero: $24.65
SB: $31.25
BB: $45.30

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with Q Q
UTG calls, UTG+1 raises to $1.5, CO calls, Hero calls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG folds.

Flop: Q 6 J ($7.75, 5 players)
SB checks, BB bets $1, UTG+1 raises to $5, CO folds, Hero raises to $15, 2 folds, UTG+1 raises all-in $22.25, Hero calls.

Turn: 6 ($53.25, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $53.25)

River: J ($53.25, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $53.25)

Results:
Final pot: $53.25
UTG+1 showed Ks Kd

Woot. I was pretty happy how that hand turned out. I probably should've re-raised with my Qs on the button, in hindsight. If it had been CO, I think I may've. But there's a really good feeling that comes over you when you get the opponent to push all of his chips in when you are sitting there staring at the nuts. *sigh* then two hands later:

Hand 5
Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.10/$0.25
6 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $20.05
Hero: $51.55
CO: $29.25
Button: $44.65
SB: $11.90
BB: $25

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG+1 with A A
UTG folds, Hero raises to $1.5, CO calls, 3 folds.

Flop: 9 5 8 ($3.35, 2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $1.5, Hero raises to $5, CO raises all-in $27.75, Hero calls.

Turn: 3 ($58.85, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $58.85)

River: 4 ($58.85, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $58.85)

Results:
Final pot: $58.85
CO showed 9h 9c
Hero showed Ad Ah

I had no reads on CO. No hands on him either. After his all-in I had him on Ks or a set, but it was impossible to know. The board was a beautiful rainbow. I would've bet my BR that he didn't have 67.

In my head at the time I was waffling between: He just saw me win a massive pot with a big hand. He could NOT be giving me credit for a hand at all and maybe hit a pair on the board and thinks his A9 is better than my AK. He could be holding TT+... but I think I'd re-raise if I had Ts, just to make sure I wasn't HJing his CO . Or he could have called my bet with a pp that hit that flop, in which case I'm dead. And I was.

Should I have been smart enough to fold the AA? Especially after doubling up on someone else who did the same thing with their Ks?

Sometimes I do things that make me think I should be wearing a helmet.

To fold AA headup you need a better reason than this colossal overbet. Sets break people. That's what they're for.

Another thought that occurred to me was that he maybe called with JT and pushed on a draw, which I have seen plenty of. Again, with no reads or hands on this guy, it was hard to say.

So he has a 10% chance of flopping a set with a PP. 2% chance to flop two pair without a PP. I'm not worried about a 2% possibility. Other than his flopped set, just about any other chance he had had a 5% or less chance of hitting on the flop. 90% of the time, I'm likely ahead on a flop that looks like this making this a profitable call in the long term under these conditions?

But in reality you should be able to pay off a good players sets when they hit 10% of the time and still be a winning player from your overpairs the other 90% of the time correct?

You might win a certain percentage of the time but it's how much you win not how many times you win. So you can be a losing player winning 90% of the time with overpairs if you get no action unless you're beat and always stack off when beaten that 10% of the time.

First hand at the table there was an UTG raise of $1, 4 callers. Three went to showdown, 2 with speculative hands to call a 4xbb raise from UTG so I decided 6xbb was going to be my standard raise for this particular table.

Normally, yes, I'm at 4xbb + 1bb/limper.
