Ugly Ed
Here is a link to the hand history of a tourney I just finished. Maybe someone could look over the way I play, and give me some help. I am desperate and about at the end of my rope and ready to give up. I cant figure out what I need to do to win. I really like playing Poker but in the few months I have been playing. I just feel like a born loser at Poker. I have read alot of books tutorials etc. Nothing seems to work. Thanks for the help.

Yes the cards you get are normal and A J is not a monster. You should probably just fold it when Under the gun or close with 8 - 10 players at the table. It will save you a lot of trouble.
Yes most of the time you are going to miss the flop with your K Q's and AJ's. You should play SnG's, You cant expect to make money in a MTT.

Limp this from EP this early in a tournament. Your fold equity is a non factor with small blinds and nothing to gain from folds all around. You're also in a full ring at the moment. More chance for a premium hand behind you. You may get smooth called by a better hand and get stomped. Also notice how many callers you got to the raise. This is a loose table early Ed. Shift your equity postflop. They get loose, you limp or push real hard preflop. No standard raises for now understand? Know the table texture and adjust to it.

Rep the flop here Ed as last act. The table is loose. What that means is the callers of your preflop raise are less likely to have hit the king, and more likely to be in with random holdings. Represent it. You were fortunate to have someone hit a second best here. I would have taken it down on the flop.

Ed, you have a ton of chips. Become more conservative. Don't raise Ax suited at this stage with blinds this low. You want people in to give you odds for a nut flush draw. Beyond that, two pair or trip 5's you're gonna fold postflop to any kind of aggression.

You started out good limping in bad position with an ok hand. Then you fired at the flop first act. Dude, knock that off. It's a HUGE leak. You may have some control issues. Just kidding. Play smarter not harder ED. This was not smarter. Give your opponents credit for a hand that beats you until they tell you otherwise.

You had 77 and checked behind on an 884 flop. Why did you do this? Did you have a gut feeling? Ok then I get those too. You really wanna bet like 250-300 on what is usually the winning hand in this spot. Someone calls you slow down. Someone had the eight, but usually they don't.

I know you want to somehow disguise the fact that you have trips. You can't bet on the flop here though because everyone wiffed, and so far that board sucks for everyone else. It would be a good bluff if you didn't have it. You only bet here when you're in hand with a smart aggressive player who will look you up. The reason being that it's common to steal a rag paired flop pot.

I see this far too often. You gotta be able to let go of top pair. What could he possibly be raising that hard? You're beat so often here that it's not worth finding out. Fold this against a deep all in.

I Think it's safe to say your biggest leak is raising hands from EP that can get you in trouble. Your second biggest leak is continuing into the wrong boards against a bad number of opponents when you miss and have no info. Your third leak is hanging around too long after being told you're beat. Your 4th leak is not letting go of a draw for the wrong price as the last hand demonstrated. It's only a gut shot Ed. Let it go. People like you make people like me rich when you play like this.

Awesome Thanks alot Randavu! Very nice of you to take the time to help me. You are right I did play those hands pretty badly. I can see now that you pointed out my mistakes. I get so frustrated when I see people win with garbage. I start trying the same thing. Or I fold what started as pretty good hands, and then feel that people start to bully me. Also after folding so many bad hands I start to feel if I get anything decent I need to play it, and win. It helps so much to know what I SHOULD be doing from an experienced player. I had gotten to the point that I didnt no what to do, from the reasons I said. I took notes on everything you pointed out on my hands. I am going to stick with it and hopefully/probably my game will improve. I am playing the same tourney again today. I feel much more confident now. Also STIdrivr Thank you for your time and going over my hands.
