Loose/passive table. 5 hands limp in and call to $4. I'm holding 8c9c which I normally dump but I have SB position and I see a sweet pot with lots of hands. I apply the theory that middle suited connector will do well with 5 hands in and my plan is to bet out with top pair. I also don't see any strong bettors to indicate a big pair. It seems they are all passively limping in. The flop gives me top pair and a flush bluff. I bet the pot as
a semi-bluff and I know if I can get the first guy to fold I am all set.

Nice play, but I'm not into betting that big into that many players without position. Overpairs, sets, made flushes, and even someone with 2 overcards and a diamond are scary for you. I wouldnt be surprised if you folded out an overpair, though, so good job in the balls department.

I wonder, do you think that in the long is this worth it from EP? Maybe your read swings it in your favor, but I'm somewhat doubtful.

even though i dont like this hand out of position, but with that many callers, i think your getting decent odds to try and flop something.

i think the flop bet was dangerous, the preflop raiser could have had an overpair, and if one his cards was a diamond, he probably should have called.

all in all nice play, but i think thats a bit risky.

Is this a good play, long run? Can't say. It was an "experiment" that worked this time. I had TA table image and had only seen 15% of flops (not counting blinds). A few hands ago I turned over AK in a showdown.
I think several factors were in place to make this hand work. I wouldn't
try pulling it on a regular basis.

I'm not crazy about this. If you get called here -a a high probability in a big field, since any one or two of them could have a high diamond - you have no idea how to proceed with the hand. You could already be behind, and almost any card coming out is unlikely to help you.

I love suited connectors but I think the flop play here is a big risk that will probably hurt in the long run.
