Villian is fairly laggy but above average post flop. Knows where the fold button is. My image is TAG.
He has ~$110, I cover
NL$1/2
Hero dealt A Q in MP and opens with $8, Villian(CO) calls, BB calls.
Flop:
A Q 6
Hero bets $20, villian calls, BB folds.
Turn pot $64)
5
Hero pushes.

I dont like it. I cant see why youd push with the K so it doesnt really make sense to push here. If you are going to bluff then somewhere closer to potsize is probably better. You are still threatening his stack with 1 street to go and you might hit the FH on the river.
I think I probably just give up though.

What does pushing accomplish that $40 doesn't?

I think its worse than that. I think pushing actually accomplishes less than a 2/3 pot - potsize bet because I think it just looks like a "hes drawn out on me again.....fuckit allin" push. If you actually had a high flush I think youd play it slower and hope he calls with his 9 high or whatever he has.

The problem with $40 is the villian only has ~$80 left in his stack, if he comes over the top I no longer have the odds to suck out to a boat on the river. It will also be more tempting for him to stick around with a sloplayed baby flush / set and would ruin my FE both here and on the river. The other problem is it could lead to a hard decision on the river if the villian smooth calls. If I check and the villian then pushes the river, there is a chance he could be bluffing and I'll be getting almost 5:1 to call. If I call this, why not push the turn?
I don't think I played it well but I figured this would be the best way of winning the pot, I have good FE against a lot of his holdings, 4 outs to the (near) nuts and eliminates any tough decisions later in the hand.
I was close to just giving up, but this doesn't seem right either.
