Opponent just sat down. Looks like the usual PokerStars semi-tight passive nit.

What's there to think about? I think you're looking at 2 outs more than 85% of the time. That looks like the kind of bet lowstakes players might make with a draw, but there's no OESD or flush draw here.

With an unknown opponent, you can't like the chance of making him fold much... ?

i actually really like doing this with my big flopped hands because often you'll get reraised nicely, kindof gets the pot started off quicker.

i rarely if ever reraise here. if he has nothing, he'll fold and you'll win the small pot, but if he has something you're going to get suckered in for the price of your raise, plus potentially a little more, and you're not gonna get him to fold here often enough to make this worth it.
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch

That bet could mean:

1> I dont really like my hand, please raise me hard so i can fold.

2> I really like my hand, please raise me hard right now.

Only one way to find out. Still, i would probably fold here, but them I am the usual pokerstars tight passive nit

Fnord - what are you getting at? That you don't expect people in EP to lead out when they catch a piece of the flop, or if they do (say with middle pair) that you feel you can push them off pot with position?

In your second example, I'm guessing that the donkbet is on Ax or Kx and is skeered of the AK 2pr after your PFR... but it seems that doing this sort of thing depends on a pretty decent read of your opp (primarily that they're weak!).

When i raise pre flop with a hand (usually QQ/KK for this...but it could work for any two i guess) and an ace falls, i will reraise with position against a loose opponent who i know is not a total fish who will call me down with A7.

Your pre flop raise could mean AK/AA/AJ and villain should know that. What hands is he betting less than 1/2 the pot with out of position? 44? JJ? Doubt it, since he's probably expecting a continuation bet from you. Villain is probably holding a hand that will fold to a reraise.

Villain could and very likely does hold a weak ace. Hero was the pre flop raiser, and continues to show aggression on this two broadway flop, it's hard to not give him credit for two pair here or better.
