Nice check/call on the river. Good read to know he'd bluff.

That would be a tough decision on the river to check or bet. You lose a lot of $ if he checks behind. I usually throw out a decent sized bet but he will only call it and not raise. Nice play by you.
Stakes: Playing $0.10/$0.25 NL

I don't think this is a how-not-to-bluff. Obviously it was unfortunate timing. He likely thought you had a so-so king and the second queen out scared you. At the river he knows his only chance to take it down is a bluff, right? And sometimes the best way to disguise a bluff is probably to make it really obvious.

I did take a bit of risk by checking the river, and would have hated myself if he checked behind me, but he had been playing super agressive until now and because of the weakness I'd shown after the second queen came out, I was fairly sure he'd throw out a decent sized bet to try and take the pot down.

I think he made the mistake of completely overbetting the river Even if I had I half decent hand I'd be tempted to call, because when I've show so much weakness up until now, why is an all-in move necessary. If he wanted to me to call surely he'd throw out a more callable, say half pot- size bet? It just screams out bluff to me. He's only invested $6 into the pot so far, yet he's willing to stake his whole stack to gain that on the off chance that I haven't been slowplaying a full house or even trips Qs? I'd say thats bad bluffing.

That's the problem. Against a good player, there's no difference in the betting pattern between scared hand and quads.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

aye; thank god quads are so rare ... you can play as though it's a scared hand and you'll be right 99% of the time
