i'm a little confused about this. Over the last three months, i've been doing very well in both games (6BB/100 7-9 multitabling 100NL online over 50k hands and $20-30 per hour 1-2 live as usual). The thing is i started losing passion, let my ego control my play more or less in live games and often ended up leaving casino very early just like less than one hour into my session. I often heard that If you play small/medium stakes poker, online is the way to make a living. However, i really love live actions from the bottom of my heart and my casino profit's been pretty darn good over the last two years. Should i take a serious shot at current online NL games (i mean full time) or just keep playing this way regardless of current random time allocation?

i was amazed to see many FTRers on this forum play full time like 50k+ hands each month on the internet and show a big chunk of profit As a live game veteran, i only managed to complete 15k hands last month
i figure that i'm messing around with something when i try to play the mix of live and online games. Any thoughts?

I'd just do the math. $20-$30/hr ain't what you're making multitabling 100NL at that rate...

No higher stakes live games in yer area?

there's one loose crazy 2-4 NL game in my local card room but variance is absolutely huge and you gotta play against the same boring group every day along Sometimes, casino only offered this game at weekend (Thur-Sun).

Move up in levels; I'm sure the higher stakes games at your cardroom are highly profitable. Play tournaments; I can't stand live cash but I love the MTTs. Online, try different formats, or even different games. Only reason I play so much is because I mix up full ring, heads up, and 6max. When I sit down, I play whatever I feel like, and that keeps me fresh and playing well.

Motivation is difficult to find in any job. Humans are naturally lazy and I think you just need some variation.

thanks, dean. I will try to play different online games to avoid boredom and do my best to reach 30k hands each month. In the card room, i might spend less time playing 1-2NL and more time with 2-4NL cuz i did feel bored when my cards were cold for ages and refused to loosen up too much.

here's the thing about playing both online and live; if ur one of those people who can stop playing at the drop of a pin, then i strongly suggest playing online. u can also leave, sit out, get something to eat, basically anything u want to do can be done when u play online. and seeing those extra amount of hands per hour definetely helps.

however, i used to play live for a living for almost a year, and the reason it worked out so well was because live games are entertaining. if ur someone like me who has ADD, i get extremely bored with one activity very quickly. playing online for me is difficult because i cant sit there for 8 hours and grind like i can in a live game. in a live game, u have a different environment than wut ur used to (home), it has a much stronger social aspect to it and its easier to get up from a table and leave than it is online.

i dont know, i think im more focused in on the environment of a game than anything. i always like to tell people that if ur not comfortable playing, then ur not going to win. imagine playing poker in 130 degree weather, it would be almost impossible to win. i think wutever u can focus on better should be wut u should play.
