JL will become famous soon enough
Villain is tight, havent seen him showdown a hand yet.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ JL (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

MP1 ($21.40)
MP2 ($25.60)
CO ($29.05)
Button ($25)
SB ($31.30)
JL ($24.45)
UTG ($10.25)
UTG+1 ($24.70)

Preflop: JL is BB with K, J. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $1, 3 folds, SB (poster) calls $0.90, JL calls $0.75.

Flop: ($3) K, 2, Q (4 players)
SB checks, JL checks, UTG+1 bets $2, SB folds, JL calls $2.

Turn: ($7) 8 (3 players)
JL checks, UTG+1 bets $3, JL calls $3.

River: ($13) 9 (3 players)
JL bets $3

My thought process:
Villain seems really tight, so my range of hands for him was 99-AA, KA, QAs....
I was ready to fold but SB called so I said what the heck, even though KJos is not the best hand to have OOP.
After being checked to on the Flop Villain thought for about 15 seconds and then through out a relatively small bet. I thought theres no way hes holding AA or KA with that kind of a bet. At this point Im thinking he has TT or JJ.
Turn bet even weaker. I thought about folding, but Im stubborn.
On the river I really wanted to see what villain was holding and I did not want to pay any more then $3, so I bet, and was ready to fold to any raise.

How did I do?
What should I do different next time? Fold PF?
I'll post results after.

if you really thought that the villian was really tight you would've folded preflop. KJo in the BB kinda eats it.

preflop call is iffy vs a tight player, I would probably fold, calling isn't necessarily a disaster though.

i would raise his flop bet and if you get called check/fold the rest of the way... but fold preflop anyway and avoid spots where you're unsure of what to do like this

Please elaborate on how well you think KJo plays against this range, both out of position and facing a preflop raiser.

I was just playing too loose, I need to be more disciplined and fold that crap.

But I did get lucky on this hand, Villain turned over QA.

Aside from blasting him for playing KJ from the BB, he asked for tips to play the hand.

1. Bet right out on the flop, K high rainbow flop is best you can get with your hand- check calling is super weak on that flop. So either bet out 1/2 - 3/4 pot on that flop. Alternatively, if you check, raise villian's flop bet with a check raise. That will either win you the hand outright or if he's got the joint, he will tell you.

2. Check calling all the way was weak, did I mention that? You are giving him a chance to either value bet you to death thinking he has the best hand or he could suck out on you.

3. Based upon your "read" you should HATE check calling. If you had the opposite read of a lose aggressive opponent who raised lots of pots, check calling TP all the way down may not be a bad idea because based on your read you rate to have the best hand and he is doing the betting for you. Here, you're "read" had you dominated all the way and you check called anyway - HUGE mistake.

4. Finally, why did you suddenly wake up and lead out on the river? You check called all the way to that point. That $3 bet is asking for trouble. What do you do if he comes over the top of you AI? The only time you want to take that line is when you have a very strong hand or a lock and are afraid of him checking behind. But with KJ on that board, that river bet is not a good bet the way the hand played out to that point and given your "read".
Send lawyers, guns and money - the sh*t has hit the fan!
