OK. I have been on this table for about an hour and I have hardly seen any flops. Opponents stats were about 25VPIP and was playing slight loose aggressive. He liked his Ax starting hands and did not raise often.

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is BB with :8h :qh
4 folds, CO raises to $0.85, 2 folds, Hero calls. I called here because he liked to raise with Ax from this position. I also haven't been in many hands lately and I played this hand although I would usually fold it.
Flop: :8c :ad :8s ($1.8, 2 players)
Flopped trips. Opponent was usually aggressive on flop and river. He was also a big stack so I decided to slow play.
Hero checks, CO checks.
Turn: :2s ($1.8, 2 players)
Hero bets $1.75, CO calls.
Pretty standard on a non drawing board me thinks.
River: :5c ($5.3, 2 players)
Hero bets $6.25, CO raises to $12.5
Actually the $6.25 was a mistake as my laptop mouse played up and the slider was going overboard. I planned to bet about $4 here. But then his sudden raise?
What would you do?

Just fyi, this is not a set, this is trips. A set is if you have a pocket pair and hit the third one on the board.

ooo, im torn between wimping out and really going for full value. Depends on my day, really.
So long as you throw more chips in the pot at this point, i think its fine.

Don't push man just call it, by the river theres plenty of hands that have you beat, + why would he raise your pot size bet on the river with just a pair of ace

Yeah I should have just called. But as I saw it only AA, A8 or K8 had me beat. I re-raised AI and he called instantly to flop over AA.
Just to show how oblivious I am to Pocket Rockets at the moment this not long after:

hand 1: you describe him as aggressive, but say he doesn't raise much? anyway, preflop call is ok i guess, river i am probably pushing here a lot of the time, though he is repping a really strong hand.
hand 2: reraise preflop?

so, i just brought the up in vent and the best play is this to lead the flop. either the opponent has a decent ace or nothing. You're not gonna get much value out of KK or QQ anyway, even if you check.
So you lead the flop and hope the ace raises you since, hell, he's only beat by the 8. If he raises, just call and c/r AI on the turn. There are no scare cards except the ace and if hits, you get away easy.
if you lead the flop and he just calls, he again either has the ace or is peeling, you'd probably be best to just continue value betting down and hope AQ turns into call down mode.
