Don't have a hand history, so I'll try my best here:
3 Table NL Tourney on PP, $5, 30 people
Fairly early on. I have $650, villian has $2000.
BB = $ 30
I am dealt 9c,9s on the button. 2 folds, villian calls BB, 3 folds, I raise 3xBB to $90, SB folds, BB folds, villian calls $60.

Pot is $225.
Flop: 7s,7h,9d rainbow

Villian bets $30. I call.

Pot is $285.
Turn: 3c

Villian bets $30. I call.

Pot is $345.
River: 7d

Villian bets $125. I push. Villian calls.

Villian flips over Ac,7c.

Was I destined to lose all of my chips there, or could that have, realistically, been prevented?

I think it was rilla or someone else who said if you didn't lose all your chips here, you played it wrong. You had the nuts and lost it to a 1-outer.

If it makes any difference I would have reraised min on the turn to see if he spanked it down. I think slowplaying this all the way was fine, too - he hit a 1-outter. If he's on the 9 you have him beat. 97, beat. 33, beat. AA-TT, beat. Extra cards in his sleeve, still beat.

He min bets the flop. (8 10 or 7)
He min bets the turn (8 10 or 7)
He leads out for 125 on the river. (looks like he's value betting the 7 to me)

I would call behind here. It smells the whole way like he was playing a 7. Yes he hit a 1 outer, but you don't have to bust yourself

I would have raised him after the flop and turn

If he would have called twice he either has a high pocket pair (but he would have raised preflop) or he holds a 7 (or a 9)

so with the 3th 7 on the river I would have folded

but it is a very difficult call
The winner always wins

And you would be making a terrible play. Don't raise a hand like this. If he is GIVING YOU CHIPS why would you scare him away? Jesus

What do you mean if he's GIVING you chips? Minimum bets don't give you that many chips and if he's got trips top kicker, you think you're going to scare him away? HELL'S NO!

Raise a little bit on the turn and hopefully, he'll raise back. I don't hate your AI on the river, but what the hell did you THINK he had that he would call that?

i would except calls/pushes with any 3, any 9, an overpair, and possibly even any pair. if i really had a horrible table rep ak/aq might even call once in a while.

You aren't only beaten by a 7 here. You're also beaten by any pocket pair higher than 9's. You should probably give him credit for a winning hand unless you know him to be a maniac.
