Ugly Ed
Havent been playing cause of a bad losing streak. After a few months going to try to get back in slowly. Would like to get some opinions on my plays and how other people would have played out the hands. I left off the last part of the hand histories. Let me know what you would have done a that point. Plus what you think about what I did.

No real read here.

I thought about raising the turn more. I figured though that he would be willing go all in on the turn. I just felt like there was enough potential hands that already beat me, or there was alot of draws that could beat me. I didnt want to put more than 3$ into it. I just had a strong feeling I would lose.

I was sure he rivered his flush. I took a stab at it anyway. Probably a waste.

Bear5-3 seems fairly aggressive doesnt like to let go of a pot. Looks like he has bought a few.

I had TP on the flop. That was an easy call. On the Turn I had a str8 and flush draw plus TP . They were both pretty lose aggresive, so good chance I was in the lead. So I made the call. I Rivered the flush. I only bet 5$ hoping Bears would raise and I could go all in.

 1 - Raising 6x bb UTG with 97s... I no likey. Your 2/3 cbet on the flop is alright, but your turn and river bets make no sense at all. You gave him correct odds to chase whatever he wanted on the turn, and your value/weird blocking river bet when one of the scariest river cards fall is pointless.

2 - Flop is fine.. bd possibilities and you're getting 5:1 on your call. On the turn you sure got yourself into a mess... there is 1 card to come and certainly need to improve. You got 3 8's and 9 's for 12 outs.. cold calling is kinda dangerous here. The only way I'm cold calling is if I am sure bears5-3 isn't raising.. Once you cold call and there is a re-raise/allin making the pot ~$30 and $11 for you to call... Technically this is incorrect with your outs, and this is why I don't like playing draws in the middle of a raising war. The river is just silly man, your card fell and you bet $5... just push, he is going to call.

3 - I probably would have limped behind preflop, I don't mind a raise but 8x bb with JK? I'm a nit however... C'mon man, don't turn into a passive min betting fish when you hit your hand. You're lucky he did the raising for you on the turn.

Thanks for the advice. Like I said I havent been playing in a few months so I'm rusty plus I'll admit a little scared. I really want to improve my game. So any advice is very much appreciated.

On hand 1 your right the PF raise is to high. I usually played at higher limits, so I wasnt really thinking about how many X the BB my bet was. It just seemed like a good amount of $. I knew my Turn bet was bad and the River was a total waste. I just didnt feel like he was going to let his hand go no matter what, and I was scared of the Flush card falling. But I felt like I should bet something or I was totally giving up the hand. Which looking back and you confirming it. I should have just let go of the hand.

I got lucky on hand 2. I felt like the all in was just a desperate short stack move. I made the calling thinking that if I hit the str8 or flush I could get Bears all in. The 5$ bet I hoped would incourage him to go all in. After he just called I realized I should have pushed more.

Hand 3 the 8XBB raise was to much. Its just the thing with not used to lower limits it just seemed like a good amount of $. I didnt say on the post. I had seen alot of people make a huge raise on boards like this if their opponents made small bets. Thats what ended up happening. I would have made a donk like all in on the River if he didnt.

Thanks again it helps alot to get other peoples oppinions.

 1 - I see that he is short, but that would be one of my reasons for not calling his raises with a marginal hand like A9o. Even if you do happen to hit a good flop, the most you're going to be winning from him is 36 bbs. I would just fold preflop. I think a player becoming desperate is more relevant to a sng or mtt when the blinds are increasing and people need to make moves.

2 - It looks like a whiffed AK to me, possibily 77-99. I think on the turn I would have checked instead of leading out $4. If you lead out $4 and he pushes what's your move? You said you had respect for him so y ou would probably have to make a respectful laydown. However, you are sitting on 1 pair in a medium-sized pot against a decent player.. I don't really want to make the pot grow any bigger. Plus, if you check to him on the turn rather than leading, you cut your loses against a bigger pair and you give him the chance to bluff again with overs. Against a decent player that showed aggression preflop and on the flop, I might check fold here.. but check/calling should be fine also.

3 - Preflop is very weird. I think twohats has a monster here... At these limits when people limp/raise.. or cold call/re-raise it is almosy always a huge hand. What do you think of twohats? Any reads? I would have probably just dumped it preflop, I really don't want to see a flop with unpaired cards oops. It seems you called because you had AKs and couldn't fold it. As played I would have check/folded the flop.

4 - I think I bet more on this flop. Don't make a habit of cbetting small and betting bigger with made hands. It is a habit I had to break out of also.. bet the same amount in the same situation regardless of your cards. Less than 1/2 pot won't do much here. I probably would have checked behind the turn, he gave you a free card you just forgot to take it! The thing about thinking you will stack him if you hit your flush is totally fine.. except he is a shortie. He doesn't have a big enough stack for you to want to take here.. if he was full I could see calling the turn.

5 - Good! You don't want to play marginal hands oop like you would have here, and boy would it have sucked for you if you did!

6 - Not sure what you mean by posting this hand, you played this totally fine and people like him are the reason people make money! I would have played this exactly the same.

Not sure if these were good calls. I figured since I had TP although bad kicker. I also had the flush draw or could have made 2 pair. I thought both would be good. His bets didnt look like he was to confident. After seeing what he had I might have won the hand with a nice raise semi-bluff on the flop. What do you think?
