My table image should be quite tight. FWIW 8Ts is a hand that I feel very comfortable raising in this situation.

I don't have a really good read on opp; tight preflop and may be a multitabler. I've seen him around a few times before and hasn't made a negative impression so we can assume that he doesn't totally suck.

So. This brings us to a good question: is it a wise call with my 2pr here?

Can you put villian on a hand?

Ask yourself: if you made a straight on the end, and your opponent had bet pretty-big at you each time you checked, would you go all in right away?

He might have hit 2 pair on the river???

Don't think this is a bluff.

Betting big/pushing the river OOP into a player that has been leading strong the entire hand is very rarely a bluff.
TheXianti: (Triptanes) why are you not a thinking person?

I bet bigger on the flop + turn and pot-commit by the river. I would also re-raise to 5x pre-flop if I thought I had lots of fold equity on the flop. Raising to 4x here is a pot builder.

Fold as played.

So are we thinking JJ? or JT? I don't see KJ calling that flop unless they're both hearts... would a flopped set play this passively as more draws materialize?

Well... when he pushed the river, I tanked and thought of two things:

1. Set of 4s. This seemed unlikely b/c of the increasing drawishness of the board. Plus if he was thinking he'd be against overs, he'd probably try to build the pot a bit faster.

2. Busted FD. It seems kind of strange that he would chase it, though.

No other hand (except perhaps JJ, which I didn't consider) really seemed to fit. 44 seemed highly remote so I put opp on a busted FD.

It was a busted FD... but he traded a showdown of for my stack.

Nice read/line of thought LeFou:
