i was going to say, i think it does belong here, if you are looking for advice. Raise preflop. Then, don't pussy bet the flop. It would've been much much easier to figure out he had the queen if you were betting earlier. playing ak weak preflop and on the flop, then jamming after you don't improve on the turn and river, is not the way to go. That king on the river is a little bit of a trap card but you should've bet enough before that to be confident enough to just check behind.
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch

The king on the river does not increase the value of your hand at all,
You were either ahead before the river, or you were already behind.
The king does improve any ace that you were already beating, as well as KK.
So, on the river there is no hand raising that you beat, where there are a few that have you behind.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

How does it improve an ace he was beating?

It improves them, but they're second best.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I played every street wrong. I actually thought I was trapping on the flop.

I'm not sure about reraising preflop in EP with AK. I raise it when I'm the first to bet, but never reraise.

As for the hand, you shouldn't fear the pre-flop reraise here. Possibly just to 2, 3 works as well. You're ahead of most calling hands and if you get re-raised you can lay it down fairly easy. From there he just trapped the crap outta you and you fell right into it...but you knew that already.
Up my bankroll - buy Saints Row.

oops. i actually totally missed that it was raised before it got to you preflop. so take back that part of what i said, i generally don't reraise with ak, i just raise. but the rest stands. bet the flop, bet the turn, check behind the river. if he gets aggressive at any point, reevaluate.

I guess I should have been more specific.
It improves an ace, but they were already behind and are still behind.
The only hand that it improves to beat you is KK.
Since no hand that had you beat before the river are you beating after the river, do not think that the K matters at all.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

I cannot read any of these converted posts from work because images are turned off. For some reason my boss does not appreciate bouncing boobs and squirrels with huge nuts. My wife thinks I'm on some porn message board at home. So, unless Tyson closes my account, I'm not using the converter. If you went to every unconverted post on here, you would be very busy being "that guy". Why you chose to zing me on it, I don't know. Why anyone gets bent over such trivial things, I don't know.

No accounting for taste, I suppose. My preference is for it all to fit on screen at a reasonable resolution so I don't have to scroll back and forth to see the stacks/action/ect.

As for the pictures, that's a pretty valid reason right there. One can hope we can get to the point where we can either turn avatars & sigs off or people grow up enough to not need to make this into a porn site.

I don't mind the hand histories either way.

Espeicially in NL, it's not hard to figure out when there's usually only two or three guys in the pot.

I think that guy's such an ass about it because he came from 2+2. I think he did, at least.

Seriously guys. You should be reading unformatted hand histories all day while your are playing. Check to see what the person mucked. I do it almost every showdown even while 8+ tabling. Reading that text is a VERY valuable online poker skill.

Honestly, I can read the unconverted HH MUCH more quickly than the formatted one.

i totally agree that it is a non-problem to post them in the standard format. The problems come when someone posts one of these

>YOU HAVE OPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
____
>>>John has
27#.50
>>>george has
29%.39

George Whole Cards []

Dealing Flop [J@ K% T@]

etc. etc.

most hand histories like partypokers are no problem to read, i don't need to see a picture to understand what a card is.

I think sometimes the "you have options" is useful information. It shows you have some distractions in the middle of your hand. As you can see in the hand history above, I had two tables with options. I remember the first table had another delicate decision to be made concurrently.
