Villain was a pain in my ass... 51.2/14/2.5, which made laying this down hurt all the more. Should I have bet harder early streets and then C/C or C/F the river? Just saw too many things in his range that had me beat by the time we got there...

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Honestly, didn't know what to do on the River. 1) Check and figured he'd read that as weakness and B/Shove, 2) Send another 1/2 pot bet in which he'd had no problem calling to this point or 3) shove myself and wasn't comfortable with that. How do I get a read on someone like this earlier so that the River choice is a bit clearer... larger bet on Turn?

on the river, if you think villain has you beat and isn't going to fold then just check it. in your particular hand i don't think the river card changes anything really, and villain doesn't seem to love his hand so i'd probably bet/fold this river. with the bet being somewhere around 1/2 pot. when you bet weak like you did it can cause a lot of players to just shove with any 2 cuz most of the time that means you don't like your hand.

Thx Martin... that helps a lot. I still trying to get comfortable w/ playing overpairs to SD ... see sets and draws everywhere!

My PFR for PPs only goes to TT UTG. I've been limping 99 and lower with the hope of hitting a set FR. But I guess this falls in the category of "don't just play the cards in front of you." PFR isolates to HU, would put me in a better position on this hand if it didn't buy me the blinds straight out or win w/ a Cbet...

Thanks!!

i've always gone back and forth about raising small/medium pairs early in full ring. there are good reasons to do so, but i think a lot of players can get into trouble spots easily too. just remember you will almost always be out of position when called, and you must not be a spew-bot on the flop by c-betting in bad spots.
