Yes, and no.

You're probably beat here, so it's a good fold, but your flop bet was weak and won't get too much respect. You raised $2 into a $6 flop. That's what you raised preflop to get two callers. Raising that on the flop screams out that you don't like the ace. Next time just type in the chatbox, "That ace scares the piss out of me, somebody please call or reraise so I know to get out of the hand."

I think you should reconsider how you play JJ if you are going to play it in this fashion. Odds are very high that there will be *at least* one over card on the board on the flop...If you can't rep that overcard, or can't rep the fact that your hand is still the best after the flop.....maybe limping JJ for a set is something you should do?

Just a suggestion.

I know that should have bet a bit more on the flop. How much would you bet on the flop? ½ ? I think playing JJ for a set is to weak or is it?

So I'd bet around 50-60% of the pot.

Lets say Stripclubjunkie bets 6 to 7 dollers after flop.

And mikeg148 only calls.

How should Stripclubjunkie play on the turn and river?

I been in this situation before and I get confused.

Would like to see what all you guys think!!

Thanks,

I don't think that I would bet pot, not with AK, b/c I want callers. If I did this with JJ, I dont think that I would get info about where I stand.

I would bet 3/4 with both AK and JJ. Both have a chance to win the pot right there and both will give you enough information for rest of the hand.

Ok so lets say same hand.

You have JJ.

There is a $6 pot post flop you bet lets say for arguments sakes you bet $4.00 to $5.00.

Your opponet calls, how do you play JJ on Turn and River, assuming the A is the only danger card and he is only one in pot.

Just hypothetically, thx.

Then I would check it down. If he just cold calls on the flop, then he's probably up to something/ or a calling station.

Thanks,
If he called a large c-bet on the flop, he most likely has an ace (or better), but he could be playing a weak ace and you may be able to out play him later. However the safer route is the check/fold it down if they called your c-bet with overs on board to your pair... Firing a second bet on the turn or river is completely read dependent. I've gotten players to lay down a pair of weak aces with a large bet on the turn or river, but many fish wont lay it down. You really just have to put your opponent on a hand, and find out what hand he thinks you have... If a player limped then just flat called your PFR, then called your c-bet when an ace hit on the flop, they either have a weak ace or a set (or a draw). Position is also crucial in this situation.
Lack of Discipline and Over-Confidence... The root of all poker evil.

Lets say it is check all the way to the river and on the river he bets.

Should you fold or should you call if the bet is small enough (2/5 - 1/2 pot)? What would be the correct play here?

I am sure you could come over the top and he might fold, but this would be read only and risky.

I belive if he checks like that he would be on a Ace w/ week kicker or meybe on a draw that he didnt hit.

I guess it would depend on the player and your poker instincts?

Just a thought, I over analyze every time this happens. I like to improve my play.

I am in this situation enough and I am a agressive tight player. I feel that alone usually makes the person fold when I come over the top on the river, but not always to a fish or a new player at the table.
