 Party 2/4 6 max

Hand One: 55 on BB
100 BB stacks
Preflop: UTG minraises to 8, table folds, I call.
Flop is 652 rainbow- I lead for 10, UTG raises to 30, I call.
Turn: 9 completing rainbow- I check, UTG bets 45, I raise to 145, BB pushes, I call...

Hand Two: 67s on button
130BB stack, BB covers.
Preflop: UTG raises to 10, 2 calls, I call, SB folds, BB raises to 60, 3 folds, I call...

I can maybe see the preflop call but not after the raise in #2. Fold.

 Hand Two, here is what I was thinking...
~I only have to call 12.5BB with over 115BB behind...
~I have 2:1 immediate odds
~There is a good chance he only has high cards because he was pretty much given the best opportunity possible for a big preflop resteal.
~no matter what he has, he will hand me his stack if I hit because the pot is so large and he must cbet
~The pot on the flop will be about 150, If the flop is low/uncoordinated and i hit a pair and he leads out for more than 3/4 pot ill be sure i have the best hand.
~If the flop comes Ace high I will raise all in and he will fold a lot

Hand one I did not consider folding but villain showed 66. I wondered if at this level the 4th nuts, even though it is a strong 4th nuts, should not be played for stacks with at 2/4 in an only-minraised pot

Hand #2: How do you know he doesn't have a PP...especially 10+. If you hit one pair on a low flop, how do you know he isn't betting out with an overpair. If the board comes Q74r...what do yo do then when he leads? I understand what you are saying, I just hope you have an extremely good read on this guy, ie. he does the big preflop reraise a lot. I still don't think you can make this play +EV.

Hand #1: Without a very strong read on this guy, I probably call. I had a hand against a guy who had a stack of 4xbuy in (200NL)...he raised preflop, I bet on the flop after hitting trips and he just pushed all in with AA....a little different scenario, but I don't think I can lay these down unless two people are willing to go in with their stacks and I have some solid reads.

 Queen high flops i would just fold
jack high i would start thinking MHIG if he leads out for the full pot or just open pushes


as it turned out the flop was Q76 and I stacked his AQ for my first 1k+ pot, but the results here are not important. I just felt that I had too much going for me to fold when closing the action preflop here.

I think the pre-flop call in hand 2 is marginally bad, but not as terrible as people think. There is a lot of dead money in the pot and you have position, although your hand is pretty terrible heads-up. A big part of this is knowing what range he'll do that with and how to play him post-flop. With good reads I can see you making up ground against the otherwise 40:1 implied odds needed for the call.

In a short-handed game against a habitual late position raiser, I will reraise a pretty wide range from the blinds, Ax included, so I don't think this strategy is optimal here. In a full ring situation, where you're up against a tight, nitty villian that you're sure has a big pair (and almost never AK) here, then I think an ace would be a great bluff-card for you on the flop. Of course this all depends on your reads and how you have been playing.

Edit: Bleh, I misread and thought you opened on the button. So yeah I think BB's raise has to be given more credibility, but I still don't like the idea of shoving an A-high flop without a little more information on how BB plays. Has UTG been lagging it up a lot?
