Renton will become famous soon enough
I am getting into 100nl now (since I hafto to clear bonuses).

Here's a hand I encountered:

Effective stacks are 100e. No reads on villain. This is an 8 handed rocky table. My image is tight, so I decided to make a position move.

I pickup 32s on the cutoff and someone limps in for 1e in MP and Villain in MP limps after him. I raise to 5e and everyon folds to Villain who calls.

Flop: J33 two tone, not of my suit.

I bet out 8e. Villain calls.

Turn: 2 (doesn't make three to a suit)

I bet out 20e. Villain calls.

River: 4 (doesn't make three to a suit)

Villain open pushes for 60 or so. I call.

The 20e smooth call on the turn is a bit disconcerting...but it's not like you can fold this without a lot more time than they give you on these clocks.
An unfortunate turn of events.

Why on earth do people limp jacks in middle position? What are they waiting for? Do they just raise with aces?

This is kinda ironic, because I played in a bar poker tournament yesterday and the same shit happened.

It was the second hand in the tournament. Stacks are 5000 and blinds are 100/200. I am on the BB with TT. Folds to person in MP who limps for 200. LP raises to 1000 and SB calls.

I decide to pull a squeeze play and push all-in. MP limper thinks and calls. The raiser and caller both fold.

She flips JJ and flop is J33. I am dead to running tens that
never come.

Is there any situation, barring anticipating a raise from a LAG, where its +EV to limp a pair of Jacks in Mid/Late position?

I think that the advantage of playing JJ like a small pair is that it's rarely suspected when it hits trips.

Obviously you trade off the times that it serves as an overpair and you win a small pot.

The problem comes when you limp, and then get married to it on an undercard flop, as in last night where shorty reraised my set of 8s allin last night with his limped JJ. Woops. So if you limp it, be willing to dump it to too much resistance.
