You raised 4xBB preflop which is good. I may have raised alittle more but from what ive read 3-5x is standard.

He hit it on the flop so the only way he wouldve folded is if you pushed preflop.

He shouldnt be calling that kind of raise with A4 anyway and then he just smoothcalled your flop bet so it would be really hard to put him on that.

I dont think you played anything wrong although Im not sure what the best way to play kings with that flop would be. Seems to me you were aggressive enough. You were done on the flop so not much you could really do.

No, you can't see that comming. But here's the problem, your opponents had fairly large stacks. You should have had a read on what raise would have chased out the crazies w/ A4. The 600 raise was not respected at all based on all the callers. If they want to get cute, smash them with 1K preflop. Seems to me like you still may have had a caller or 2. AI preflop seems like a waste b/c you want action on that hand, just not as much action as you got.

The table was sitting on stacks from 7K to 20K and you had 5900. Fire away pre-flop.

I beg to differe with the previous posters.

I thought of the wheel possibility while reading thru the hand, but then I knew you got beat, so I am not sure I would have done any better.

You should have considered the possibility that someone called the pre-flop bet with A-4 suited, as that is a good starting hand to see the flop with. A-xs is much higher rated than A-xo since it can form a nut flush. If the flop hits the suit with 2 or more cards, than you can bet on the come with 3:1 chance of getting a nut flush and 7:1 chance of getting the A paired, for a total of almost 2:1 of improving the hand. In addition, there is also that wheel possibility with x<=5, which is what slamed you here.

Betting the A-xo as one person did is not a good idea, but many people do it.

Even taking these factors into consideration, you might have elected to forge ahead anyway, or to try to limp through to the river and wait for another opportunity depending on your strategy at that point.

I wouldn't consider your play ill-advised, but I alwayse kick myself when I get beat by something I didn't see coming.
