Fold preflop so you dont have to get into situations like these. You need a read in marginal situations, and this is VERY marginal. As played, check/fold that flop. If someone else has an ace, you are beaten.
My sig is too much for you to handle.

Why complete there when hitting the best part of your hand makes you uncomfortable?
Up my bankroll - buy Saints Row.

It doesn't make you uncomfortable until you get played back at. I complete this all day long.
TheXianti: (Triptanes) why are you not a thinking person?

In the hand, the hero was never played back at, yet he was still uncomfortable. Given that's the case, I believe he, personally, has no buisness completing A40. You are a different person.
Up my bankroll - buy Saints Row.

why complete this hand regularly? is it just to raise your VPIP? you'll never flop a SD or FD, and you won't make much money by pairing either card. all you can really hope for is trip 4's or 2-pairs that you hope aren't crushed.

Ok so some disagreement about completing with this hand. I should point out I am new to cash games. On the flop his bet seemed weak and it was a drawy board, what do you think of the check raise? It wasn't my actual intention I checked to see what others would do then decided to raise the weak bet. On the turn the jack made me wonder but in hindsight how often does he have a jack here? I think not often but perhaps you think otherwise? If I played it again I would bet the turn, but then I know now what he had

usually you should check-raise only when you planned on check-raising. doing it just because you see a weak bet is extremely exploitable, if i sense weakness and i already checked then typically i will take it away on a later street. 1, because its more believable and 2, you win more by taking it on a later street because he might make another weak ass bet. the only time i ever check-raise when it wasnt my first intention is when there is a good hand that is perfectly represented by my play thus far. and completing here is most definitely not a leak, nor is not completing. there is no obvious expected value here, it depends on table dynamics whether it is positive or negative.
