Instead of folding, he probably should have gone over the top all-in on him.

He might even take the pot down right there, but chances are he would get called. He has a good chance to take down the pot.

and why take 4 callers to the flop, how much does this guy not rate AA, he's probably been burned a few times and now thinks "i'll play it like 99" still doens't explain folding the nuts.

I'm pretty sure staple gun's last line is sarcasm with some bewilderment thrown in for good measure
