I rarely raise a mid suited connector and especially out of position. The table was fairly tight and I thought I might steal a few pennies here. Worked out this time....

Thoughts on anything else I could have done?

Me too. I usually assume it's a guy with JJ-99 and he's scared of playing postflop if an overcard hits. In a tourney I sometimes even fold AK to them, because I'd be getting the worst of the coin flip, and if I lose, I'm out.

However, lately I've been seeing a decent number of people make huge openers with such terrible hands that I'm thinking the same as you, Fnord. Have you seen any people like this in your ring games?

Standard raise at the table was at least 4x if you had cards at all.. I had made several raises of 4-6x bb with huge cards and had gotten callers. There were generally a lot of limpers so you had to make that kind of raise to weed out the trash. I was basically trying to rep strength and was done if someone came over the top of me. As I said, I was just trying to buy a little pot. This is NOT a play I normally make.

Another standard play was people with short stacks going all in preflop trying to double up.....

I had just shown down a big hand and won a decent pot, too....

That being said, your points are well taken. I did put myself in a dangerous spot. Likely would be bleeding chips if I did it on a consistent basis.

Your hand has implied odds, and is a good raise at a tight table where if you hit, you'll possibly drain TP. Also, you have fold equity postflop leading out into non threatening boards. I wouldn't raise this hand from EP regularly, but as a change of pace play I love it. You coined it correctly, since that's exactly what it is. This is the kind of mixing up that increases your implied odds for all holdings in future hands.

What a lot of people don't consider is how your choices stimulate (or don't stimulate) future action. It's an important concept in NL. GG
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Miffed, if you are asking me, I almost NEVER show a hand. I would only show a hand that I stole on a pure bluff when I would get absolutely NO action on my big hands. Usually getting action at 25 NL is not much problem. Eventually if you use the raise, c-bet, take down line often enough, someone looks you up without you having to show cards beforehand. Fortunately for me, this one got shown down and I got action on a few more big hands before I had to leave the table.
