Villian's line seems a little aggresive if he has a set. If he thinks you called with 2 crap diamonds then maybe he doesn't want you drawing.

Then again, its $10NL and he less than minreraised PF (LOL) so he could have AA/KK.
I'd probably be calling.

to put another way, how could the flop be any better with AK? unless you flopped the straight or nut flush, but flopping top pair - he may be an uber donk who is playing AQ this way (happens all the time at 10NL - people hit top pair and they think YOU are drawing

I am probably one of the few people that would fold without a read.
One of the mistakes you can make at 10Nl is thinking everyone is a donk.
His re-raise pre-flop wants to be called and post flop he isn't re-raising with qq or below (2 overcards) and best you could hope its AQ or also AK.
Going all in might seem like a bluff but at that level you have to make a big re-raise with a flush draw on the board because anyone with 2 diamonds is calling anyway so you might as well make them pay for it & top pair will probably call the all in as well.
(Top 2 pair is usually good on the flop but given the pre-flop action & a re-raise I think it would be -ev to call in this particular station.)

Noble, you made good points...post doesn't need to be ignored.

However, thinking through your reasoning about how villian is pushing because at this level you know anybody will chase so make them pay....then would that kind of thinker raise it a little more Pre-flop as well with AA/KK....or do they min-raise hoping to bring along those people to do just this?

After a few minutes of thinking, I put him definately on a pocket pair no doubt, and most likely 99, with 10s-Ks an outside chance.

It's consistant for me because, 99 isn't a hand that is in the best 5% but since he's going to play it anyway, he wants to play against 1-2 hands, so he makes a small re-raise pre-flop..

Since you've raised he assumes you've probably hit a pair of Aces, and alternatively its a bit of a scary board with the flush draw and possibly straight draw.

Basically I think he's making the draws fold, and he belives he has the best hand.

Now that's all in hindsight and reading the hand history here. I would find it very difficult to get away from top 2 pair here at 10NL simply because at this level you can't assume everyone makes perfect plays. I would lay it down at a higher level.

noble - you do make some good points...definitely a big mistake to think everyone at 10nl is a donk - not the case for sure - maybe villain in this case thinks hero is on tilt and just trying to put him to the test, figuring he may get lucky and win anyway or get the tilter to fold...If you have only top pair, that is a tough call for us - top 2, i call - he may have put you on top pair only....
