One player sitting out. How is it that nearly every time I see trips on the board in these shorthanded NL games someone is in the hand for no reason and is holding it?

But they were suited!!

I've learned that with poker you never know what someone is going to play, even if it seems like the dumbest play in the world. The other 95+% of the time he plays 72s he probably loses, so he had to make up for it at least once.

I just seem to be in that 5% of losers way too often.

I generally play correctly - I know I've got some small leaks, yet I'm down enough to buy a nice used SUV this year. Nearly everyone else on here has at least some positive stories to tell - I've got none because this happens at least once every ten minutes to me - check the hand histories and the times...

Maybe poker isn't my game? Is my table selection that bad? I don't get it.

I generally win in small amounts until I take a beat like this, and I either go back to even or string a couple hits at once and lose a lot.

I don't mean to direct this to you AvatarKava, you just brought my mind to this.

I've heard people say this exact sentence many times. "Well, yea I lost, but you can't fold that." Whoever they are talking to usually responds by agreeing whole-heartedly. I want to slap them and say, Yes, you can. Fold it.

If there is out on the board, you can't fold your even if someone else holds the But that's not what your play was.

You played a 9 high flush when there was 2 pair on the board and very heavy betting between 2 other people. YOU CAN FOLD THAT!

You played a AKo when there were 4 to a suit that you don't have on the board and no Aces or Kings. YOU CAN FOLD THAT!

You ever run into these people?

Sorry to hear that dude maybe you should drop down a few levels until your game clicks, you won't win a great deal but at the same time you're not going to lose a great deal either. Once you have won x amount at the lower level start moving up setting yourself $ amounts to win at each level.

I play low limit holdem and people just refuse to fold anything, but I'm beating it over the long run, I know games where people play any old crap can increase your variance, but these games are beatable.
