Against 1 opp, sure I can call this sometimes... but against a re-raise and an ai I'm folding.

How long had you been playing with these opponents? Are you saying that they were both playing like middle pair was gold because of the result of this hand, or because of the showdown results of other hands? Unless both players are total maniacs this is a standard fold. The one thing I would do differently is bet closer to the pot on the flop to protect on this very draw heavy board.

Depends on the players. Really standard fold, but maniacal tendencies from the other 2 guys could sway this toward a call.

MP3 could have something like KQ and button could be pushing a flush draw cold, but I think you're usually beat here.

Does this mean they'd been re-raising and pushing with middle pair? Or have they just been calling people down, and in this hand they're suddenly going nuts with their raises?

Against the right players, of course you can call this. When you're playing with maniacs, you're just going to have to take weak hands further than you're used to. I think a lot of people on this board don't beat maniacs for the maximum because they're afraid to gamble with them without a lock hand. That being said, this is usually an easy fold and I'd have to see some stats and hand histories from these guys before I'd believe that this was a call.

They had been going nuts and re-raising with pretty much anything. Sometimes it was a pure bluff and other times they caught pieces of the flop. My gut told me MP3 was on a flush draw but I was a blank on the other guy so I forced myself to fold. They hadn't been doing a lot of all-in pushing either.

Results:
MP3 shows [ Ac, Jc ] a pair of nines.
Button shows [ As, Kc ] a pair of nines.
Button wins $22.86 from side pot #1 with a pair of nines with king kicker.
Button wins $171.30 from the main pot with a pair of nines with king kicker.

Yeah, without really extensive reads you can't call. Don't worry about the results. That's your best case scenario and even there your only a 50% favorite or so.
