I feel like the river is just an obvious bluff. Some may play it that way, but I mean you think even a donk would bet more like half the pot here. Even if he had a straight, i thought maybe, big maybe, he'd fold. But I thought he had nothing. I just joined the table...

I'm not doing this without a read. You're giving him over 2:1 on the call so I think he's calling here with with more than just the straight or flush. If you really want to steal this pot, lead the river for $10.

I didn't want to steal the pot until I saw his bet.
I understand your point, without knowing whether he is aggressive or not it is somewhat spewing to make this play.
But then again, I could reason that only an aggressive bluff would play it this way.
Would a flush check the turn in position? Yes, if the person was really passive... but a person who was passive wouldn't bet that much on the river. rule the flush out.
Would a person who has a straight do this? Yes, this would happen for some players. But more likely a straight is value betting less than the pot here, or if they are a donk, some overbet of some sorts. Why? Because I've shown no strength during this hand, so why would anyone believe (consciously or subconciously) That I had a straight?

Can you poke holes in this logic? I believe there must be because I'm finding it hard to believe I made a good play here.

And NO I'm not posting the results as that will skew views of the hand. PM me if you really want to know.

I can't rule out a flush or a straight. If he's a good player he may be intentionally making a fishy-sized bet. And if he's a bad player he may not pay a lot of attention to bet sizing. I think my main problem is the size of your raise. If you want enough fold equity here to make it profitable, I think you need to push. Villain may call here with a T here and maybe even worse hands, strictly because of pot odds. And I hate a push without a read.

I don't like it, not becasue of your read on him, but the logic of your own line makes no sense. What are you trying to tell him you have here? Here's how I break you down assuming you haven't been playing some crazy LAgg game:

You raise preflop so I put you on the standard range. Therefore I'm not afraid you just flopped a straight with J9 or whatever. And you hit the flop with a pretty strong bet so you're not trying to draw to a flush.

When the flush hits on the turn you show weakness as do I. Now on the river you check again, more weakness after such a strong first half of the hand. If you had a hand worth reraising me on the river with I think you would have been more interested in getting some value out of it by leading the river rather than by checking which could easily lead to me checking behind. Then you come back with nearly a min-reraise. Whatever I called you with on the flop I'm not afraid of what you're trying to rep here. Whether I had a 9 or set or even a pair I'm calling you down here.

Actually, when someone's line makes this little sense I even call pretty substantial reraises here. Hope this made sense.

Galapogos has a great point. My line looks like a rebluff. I have shown no strength during the hand.

hmmmmm.... well I guess I shouldn't have done it then. Maybe if I minraised?

Anyways, now that the points have been made, the results were:
He folded, I talked to him after the hand and he said he had nothing.

Well u bet the flop then its checked, then u chceked again on river.

where most would make a value bet because they check the turn to show weakness, so he felt he could take it down u check raised and won.
