Hiya, I like a bit of a bluff and this hand coming up is something I've tried on a few occasions. Often nothing will come and I'll represent people out of the hand, but someimes the flop can be generous.

Do you think this kind of play works in the grand scheme? Or am I just a monkey?

VC doesn't offer all the details on hand histories, so I've filled a few gaps here.

Incidenty I ough to point out that the table is pretty loose and I've been playing quite tight for maybe 30 minutes (should that alter any opinions on what happened)

kittie120479: $15
United999: $13.21

Keep that united guy on your buddy list. He had no business calling that all-in. I guess he thought his 7 hi flush draw was worth it.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.

You're absolutly right and I did mark that man for future profits. I certainly want to get my mney back after he lpaye that hand.

But my thoughts were more towards me playing my hand as I did against people like Kittie.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the profitability of this tactic in the long-term?

Raising in late position with crap and then betting into an unbet pot on the flop? I'd say any money-making player does this at least occasionally; some do it religiously. The fact that you flopped two pair here is immaterial, although it's nice when that happens so if someone thinks you're bluffing, you can take down a nice pot.

Its all about reads and table image.
Last night I get Q7o on the button and its folded to me. I cover my cards and say "I am gonna play this like its AK or sth. I make my standard raise and the BB calls. Flop is A K rag. he bets $1.5 into me. If I had AK here I would smooth call and then raise the turn hard. So I do call. Turn comes another K. He bets another $1.5 (sign of weakness too, the pot is around $7 now) I raise to $5 he mucks AJ. The board helped. But I played the hand like it was AK. I would have mucked AK of the board was 10 high and he bet into me. But "I hit 2 pair and slowplayed him". I showed Q7 and then took his stack some hands later when he moved all-in over the top of me and I held KK.

You have to pick your spots. I usually do this once or twice at a table when the timing is right (table image as tight, or a series of good hands I showed down) and after that I switch to super tight only betting and raising when I have the goods. People tend to keep thinking "hey this @#%^@# might be bluffing me like he did earlier" end pay you off.
