Well I made the jump. Put down a deposit in PP and sat down at the 25$ NLH table. I was doing really well after about 75 hands I was up to 68$. Then My step son sat down to "watch" and with that distraction, I slipped back to 51$. Then I played this Hand...... Really badly.

DeadMoney had been bluffing at a lot of pots and I did not give his hand enough respect. Even when he didn't fold, I thought I had the outs... Looking back I don't think I did.
After that, I was not thinking as clear.... I should have just got up right there. 7 Hands Later, I play this hand.... Worst hand I played.

I was off my game at this point that not only did I not see the straight on the board, but I did not notice that the guy who was sitting in this chair had changed. The last guy was pushing a lot of money around with second pair or even a high card.
I think the lesson for the day is to walk away when I feel I am not thinking right or I am distracted. I lost 68$ by not doing this. I felt my focus go the moment my step son sat down, but kept playing anyways.....

That is really tough, knight. It's good that you acknowledge your mistakes, however. I personally think hand #1 was a worse play than #2.

I think both hands sucked. In the first hand, I was thinking I had fourteen outs, two 7's nine spades and three more 8's. But I obviously overvalued my outs. I shouldn't have given that much credit to my flush, it was only 7 high. I did have five outs and I really thought the guy was making a stab at the pot. Oh well, the good news is I got my feet wet. I am looking over my Poker Tracker but I don't know what I should be looking for yet.

1) Three to the flush on the board and 2 overs with a weak pair and a gutshot. I fold all day unless it gets checked to me then I may try to buy the pot with a 1/2 pot sized bet and proceed with caution if called or fold if raised.
2) TPGK is not a hand I want to call all my money with that board. I like the flop raise but his opening bet on the turn when a possible oesd completed would have really worried me and I probably would have folded.
