alright ive jsut recently started playing at pokerstars, likein it so far but have bad a couple bad hits from hands similar, just wondering if there is any way to avoid a hand such as this.

its three handed at this point
i have 66

flop comes out k 6 7

i bet everyoen calls

turn j

i bet next guy raises i re-raise he calls

turn 2

i bet, he raises, i re-raise, he re-raises i call

i show the pocket 6's for trips, he shows his poket kings for trips

is there really any way to avoid beats such as these or did i play it correctly?

thanks.

If you don't lose all your money there, you played it wrong.

A week ago or something, I lost almost two buy-ins (I had doubled up) with pocket 8's against pocket queens flop 8 Q X. Then the funny thing is that a few days ago I flopped a set with my queens and a guy went all in on me with his pocket 8's! However, the point is that you can never fold a hand like this because you put your oponent on a higher set, it´s so much more likely that he has a worse hand than yours than a better one. Rilla is right.

The only time to fold a set is when there's a very obvious flush or straight on the board, you know your opponent has it, and there are no more cards to come. You will probably never be a good enough poker player to sniff out a higher set when you flopped one, so don't try; just get your money in. (And I don't mean you specifically, I mean basically everyone who plays poker.)
