Yes, you got unlucky. Did you overbet the river? Yes, you messed that part up. Pushing the river only gets calls from better hands. AQ is not here often enough to make the push profitable.
You're doing really well betting your strong hands, I give you props for that. Your next level of thinking should be geared towards figuring out what your opponents have.

I understand what your saying and will run that through next time I go to make a play like that. He was making pretty quick calls and I had raised the 2 hands prior to this one the same amount I raised here (AK, AQ before this. Took both down preflop.) and I figured he called just out of spite pretty much. Which in fact I was pretty correct, since he continued to call my premium hand just as I was wanting. I realize that him the straight on the river was just unlucky. Thanks for the props.

It's this line of thinking that makes me lose my stack once in a while. Instead of guessing what kinds of adjustments your opponents make after you show certain betting patterns, let his betting and showdowns tell you what kind of style he's playing. Not to say that you are wrong, but just emphasizing that sometimes we fool ourselves into believing things that simply aren't true.
