Quite passve table.
Preflop raise standard is $3 here to get action. $4 just gets the blinds. No spectacular players here.

[Hold 'em] (0.50|1.00 No Limit - Cash Game) Real Money

- TheChosen_1 sitting in seat 1 with $108.20
- Mujaffa12 sitting in seat 2 with $122.20
- kehrli sitting in seat 3 with $115.90
- The_Picasso sitting in seat 4 with $73.16
- mustang70 sitting in seat 5 with $41.35
- beefcarver sitting in seat 6 with $4.00
- -SunTzu- sitting in seat 7 with $118.65
- controversy sitting in seat 8 with $117.30
- Miffed sitting in seat 9 with $78.50 [Dealer]
- dangdut sitting in seat 10 with $40.38

dangdut posted the small blind - $0.50
TheChosen_1 posted the big blind - $1.00
** Dealing card to Miffed: 6 of Hearts, 6 of Clubs
Mujaffa12 folded
kehrli called - $1.00
The_Picasso folded
mustang70 called - $1.00
beefcarver folded
-SunTzu- folded
controversy folded
Miffed called - $1.00
dangdut called - $1.00
TheChosen_1 checked

** Dealing the flop: 10 of Hearts, 3 of Diamonds, 6 of Spades
dangdut checked
TheChosen_1 checked
kehrli checked
mustang70 checked
Miffed checked (bad check?- not a scary flop. really im hoping for someone to catch something)

** Dealing the turn: 7 of Diamonds
dangdut checked
TheChosen_1 bet - $3.00
kehrli folded
mustang70 called - $3.00
Miffed called - $3.00 (gutshot completes, should have raised here but dont want to scare the action away)
dangdut folded

** Dealing the river: 7 of Clubs
TheChosen_1 bet - $10.00 (set or straight?)
mustang70 folded
Miffed raised - $30.00
TheChosen_1 called - $30.00

Results.
Miffed shows: 6 of Hearts, 6 of Clubs
TheChosen_1 shows: 7 of Hearts, 3 of Spades (LOL)
TheChosen_1 wins $71.00 from the main pot

Questions.
Is checking the flop bad? I want some action and im not particularly concerned if the gutshot completes. Players are far too tight to be playing such a hand
Turn. I would have raised had i known what opps held but is calling here ok. Im hoping that i can find a good sized value bet on the river rather than scaring my action away here.
Im open to how badly i played this, i tried to keep my action while just not killing it.

The check on the flop is okay, its about as safe as you can get for slowplaying although you may have trouble stacking someone later in the hand. Most importantly you have to raise the turn. The gutshot just completed but now there are hundreds of other draws out and the tables waking up. You are in position and have the power to price the next card, put the money in while your ahead, build a pot before a scare card kills your action or beats you.

You say you don't want to scare away the action which is fine on a safe flop with 2 cards to come, but the turn is the last time you can possibly get action from a draw without losing a big pot. Your also not punishing weaker hands hard enough.

agreed. I think i was worried about giving a free card on the flop which wasnt the error. The error was letting someone else price the turn.
