At the time I put him on 4s full of Js, but with hindsight don't think he would have gone all in with less than the J, so best I could have hoped for was a split pot.

you are to call 8$ in to a pot of 30$ with only ONE hand beating you and you think its a close decision?

OK point taken. With pot odds of nearly 4/1 I have to call every time with the 2nd nut hand.
