0.25/0.5 game

there was a one dollar raise i and re-raised to $4.50
I get four callers, which kinda surprised me.

the flop is

So i decided to slow play, it checks around

turn is

someone bets $3.50, everyone calls including me cause i'm still slowplaying.

river

I bet big, someone re-raises me all in. The guy that re-raised me all in was a really loose fish, but i thought even he wouldn't stay in with K10, so i call. Of course he has king 10 and i lose the pot.

Was i wrong to slowplay here? Also was i wrong to call the all-in even with the straight draw?

1) the check on the flop was a bit iffy because 910 or k10 has open ended draw.

2) On the turn when "someone" bets $3.5 and everyone calls you should of raised a nice chunk here to either take the pot right there or give them bad odds to draw because someone could also have had the flush draw...

3) River-- I dont think you can lay it down here because you have pretty much no information on what your opponents are holding because you never forced them to reveal their hands earlier.

Yeah, i mean just on the flop it was about a 40x bb pot with four players involved, now that i think about it i shouldn't have slowplayed at all, let alone til the river. Also should have listened to my notes on the guy which were something along the lines of "loose as hell".

Oh and that "someone" was the guy in last position, who then folded on the river. The other person involved in the pot was in the small blind and one of those minimum buyin suicide all-in types (and he was all-in preflop) so i wasn't even thinking of him.

There is no reason to slowplay this! The K10 guy had perfect odds to draw to his straight plus on the turn someone could have the four flush. There is no reason to do it. Two high suited broadwas on the flop can so easily give someone a draw because a lot of players play any two broadways, NEVER EVER slowplay that! A set is a well disguised hand but its far from being the nuts on the river (at the flop it still was). This is the worst played set I 've seen posted in a long time (besides the 99 themandude on the button).

On the flop there are about 18$ in the pot, bet at least 12$ and if you get called push on a non scary turn. Pushing on the flop could even be better since the the pot is already big enough to take down right there, no need to get excited about trapping four poeple with top set.

Generally, I do not recommend slowplaying sets ( an exception might be a uncoordinated board with no draw against one opponent). You can slowplay flopped boats if there are straight or flush draws out there, you should often (but hey, they don't come often) slowplay flopped quads because otherwise you won't get any action most of the time (I flopped quads lately with pocket deuces, the flop was 22Q and viallain was holding AQ, nice pot).

Don't be a fish, learn from your mistakes! Sorry for being so blunt.

Oh, one more thing: Loose players betting big usually have a hand. They are called loose because they call bets they shouldn't, not because they bet big without a hand (it happens occasionally, but not nearly as often).

Try to put your opponents on ranges in the future, don't just play your cards. Here K10 is so obvious, it's a shame not to see it right away.
In order to live you have to be ready to die!

All this stuff is confusing me. it s kinda funny but in a strange "meta-funny" way.

apparently we ve stopped talking about a b c funny and have gotten on to d e and f.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

Slowplay if the board is Q72 rainbow. But any turn bet must be big enough to get rid of the drawing hands. Don't slowplay any more than 1% of the flops. If you flop a flush, someone might have a set or a higher diamond in their hand. If you flop a straight, same thing. In this situation, you'll stack and lower set or most overpairs being slowplayed or maybe even AQ.

Besides, you might be able to bluff next time in this situation with no hand.
