Ok, I have already posted one hand history tonight, and you guys made me realize that I have been playing way too loose. I had been doing pretty well at $25 NL on Empire, though, with the way I was playing. I still know I need to definitely tighten up.

Please critique this hand for me. I know I should have never even played this hand to start with. I figured since I was on the button and there were only two callers in front of me I would try to play this. That was my first mistake.

But let's move on from that. My read on this guy was that he was playing pretty loose, coming in with anything. He makes a min bet on the flop, so I call. Another diamond hits, so I figure the only card that beats me was the A of diamonds. And his big time over bet tells me he has a small diamond and is trying to buy the pot.

If he raises you that much overbetting the pot by like 8 times.. he's probably got the ace. In this case he had something even better; a straight flush (not that his 3 of diamonds mattered since he still had an ace of diamonds). Fold on the turn, he's not trying to steal the pot.

People that try to steal the pot only bet the pot or so. People that want to get paid off big overbet the pot 8 times lol
BR now: $106900
Playing now: $10/10/20 - $20/40 NL live, $10/20 NL full ring online, $10/20 NL 6-max online, $20/40 FL 6-max online, $100/200 FL live
Goal: $125000 for $25/50 NL live

Why would he risk $20+ to "steal" a pot of maybe $3..

You really don't have much invested, I would lay it down on the turn also.
Currently Playing 8 Tables of 25NL 10-Max.
Or
2 Tables of 100NL 10-Max

Current Bankroll: $625

Goal: To stop pulling $$$ out of my bankroll and build it up to 1k.

Well, first...if you're going to play Kx off from position, RAISE IT, so you can continuation bet, although even THAT wouldn't be recommended at $25NL.

Call on the flop is fine, I guess. You don't really have anything but a draw though, and even at that, if you make your draw, you can still lose.

Calling on the turn is ridiculous. Only an ace or better bets that. In this case, he had both the ace, and something better.

All in on the river is ever worse. You have to believe you're behind at that point and fold.

Sorry man, but that play is insane.

FOLD THAT RIVER (without a read)

Don't post results. It makes me feel cheated.

Never play K high flushes into strength. Your $1 bet on the turn was too low. Here you should have bet $3. With that bet, you know that if anyone calls or raises they have the nut flush and you can fold it.
