If I would stop trying to slow play and start betting the pot things like this wouldn't happen.

You said it. You need to bet more on the flop. Just get to doing it. TP is an extremely vulnerable hand, especially against more than one opponent. Heads up you can maybe bet less if there's not any draws out there. I used to bet way too little in this situation too. Just bet more, man. Tape a sticky to your computer or something - BET THE POT WITH TPGK.
