Villain is MP1 ($100)

Pre-Flop
Villain raises to $5
Hero raises to $15
Villain calls $10

Flop (2 Players, Pot = $31.50)


Villain checks
Hero bets $17
Villain raises to $42
Hero ?

Ouch...that sucks...seeya.
But why not bet $20-24 on the flop? You are slightly more than half-potting it?
Whenever I do that and get reraised it always confuses the crap outta me...so I quit doing it...I 2/3 pot the flop and if he reraises then I can fold much more confidently.
I would think AA/QQ/QTh would 2/3 pot the flop - even so you've gotta be beat - only JJ/77, maybe AA make some sense.
If you are to continue, pushing is the only option as your hand is not likely to improve in any way that makes you more confident about it so either you think you're good enough now to go with it or you're F'd and should probably lay it down.
