Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (8 handed) converter

MP2 ($15.17)
CO ($42.62)
Button ($6.05)
SB ($36.2)
Hero ($31.6)
UTG ($24.75)
UTG+1 ($5.25)
MP1 ($18.05)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, K. SB posts a blind of $0.1.
2 folds, MP1 raises to $0.5, 1 fold, CO calls $0.50, 2 folds, Hero raises to $1.75, MP1 raises to $3.5, CO folds, Hero calls $1.50.

Flop: ($7.60) 7, 3, 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $4, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $11.60

Goofing off at $25 NL... I think I should have put this guy all in preflop.
He showed 81/15 split. Not used to playing down here... what do you think?
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

I still would never move AI with ace high at 25nl... preflop at least.

He either has a pair (coinflip) or he doesn't, in which case I am way ahead. Chances are, he doesn't.

There are times it's clearly called for.

putting someone all in with AK in a full ring that reraised your reraise would be pretty stupid. i'd be pretty surprised if he didnt have QQ-AA, since he minraised looking for a reraise (which he got) and then he reraised. im sure he wishes you would have put him all in.

I'm sure he had a pocket pair, even if it was 2's, it's still a coin flip. AK's are tricky in low stakes ring games. I'll always throw out a nice bet preflop and see what everyone does. I would call a raise, but I wouldn't reraise. If someone raises in front of me I just call to see what the flop brings, and go from there.
This is a true story. I'm not a paid actor. FTR does not guarantee any results. People can and do lose money when playing poker.
