Agreed. Seriously; what was the point of this post? You were first to act, and raised a 77, inviting only hands that beat you to call you. Fortunately for you, either those hands weren't out there or they were too chicken to call. What the hell?

But couldn't you just be doing this with any 2? No sense waiting for 77 to raise preflop and take the pot with aggression. 77 just has the added value of becoming a set, but you're not looking to showdown otherwise.

True, but I'm raising preflop 9%. If this were higher say at 15-20 you would get called. I have an image of a relatively tight player that's very aggressive so this works. If I had an image like Mike, I'm going to get called much more often, which is not what i'm looking for here.

Also, it makes it difficult for the other player to know what I'm playing. If I raise AA-77 + suited connecters every so often, then on the flop when i throw out a bet it make it difficult to put me on a hand, but they know I at least started with a solid hand.

Yeah... no. What I said was raising 77 preflop for value is -EV because of all the hands that call you that beat you. Every card over 7 is a scare card and the chance you hit a set is 1 in 8.5. Like rilla said, you could do this with any 2 cards, it doesn't mean raising 77 preflop is a value play.

I don't want to see your hand histories of taking down unchallanged pots, I didn't even ask you about that. Stop answering questions no one asked.

That's the funny thing. Since i posted this thread I've had 77 twice as often as any other PP. It is winning almost every time also. The largest pot i lost was when i folded on the flop...
