Hole cards
on the button.

4 way min raised pot.

Flop:

I'm against 2 semidecent players and one fish.

fish checks, guy bets 1/2 pot, next player calls, i call, fish folds.

turn is blank

first player bets 1/5 the pot, next player calls

what do they have? at this stage is almost irrelevant because i'm drawing to the nuts on good odds. but if i can work out what they have i may be able to take the pot even if i dont hit.

the first player: i think is drawing, or making a weak attempt to steal the pot on nothing. but i think he's on a draw, he wants to build the pot incase he hits.
2nd player: is drawing because he's smooth calling and knows better than to not bet out with a hand in a multiway pot and a drawing board.

river:

they both check.

i'm now confident that they were both drawing to flush and missed, or potentially straight, the ten is a scare card for the straight but i think a straight would bet something here because with these players they would realise each of us would check the missed draw and would get nothing if they dont bet on their straight.

I bet 2/3 pot. (i wouldve bet pot a few days ago but not anymore, thanks 'rilla)

fold
fold
villain goes AI
i call with a set (i have him owned)
i win pot

That's good. I'd be tempted to raise on the turn, which sets up the river bluff better. (Frankly, your naked river bluff in position is pretty obvious here, but I'm guessing that either these players were both drawing and had no pair, or they just aren't tremendous players and as such didn't recognize it. Based on the betting it's probable that one of them, maybe the first player, has just a queen and was less confident in his hand as things went along. He may assume you have a king from your river bet, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense after you smooth-called two weak bets on the flop and turn.)

yeh good point. I had these 2 down as semi decent.. play good hole cards, usually know when to fold.. a bit weak tight. dont really make reads, play the cards well but not the players.

here's another one from today...

NL25

in LP

it folds to me and i limp

the button raises to 6BB

the blinds fold, i think then call

preflop read: This player has been playing mostly good cards. he raises when he has high cards, but is a bit of a sucker for limping from anywhere with marginals.. so i put him on AK, AQ, AJ

other thing i've noticed about him is that he's a sucker for the flush, as so many are. but he's an easy as hell read because he instantly calls when on a flush draw, no matter how big the bet.

FLOP:

having put him on high cards i can probably take it down here. I bet just over 2/3 pot.

he executes his classic instant call and i know he's chasing the flush, probably has high diamonds..

the turn:

this time i bet the full pot because i'm sure this pot is mine if the flush misses and as predicted he calls instantly.

the river:

i bet his stack.. about 1/2 the pot

folds

i collect $19.93 from pot.
villain goes AI
i call with a set (i have him owned)
i win pot
