I don't like the flop min re-raise. If you plan on leading the turn, why not push the flop?

push the flop? why? don't you recognize what villian is doing?
Success is how high you bounce after hitting bottom.

Because 3betting the flop and betting the turn gives me a chance to get away with half my stack if he instapushes over me and I smell a set. I can see raising more than I did over his flop raise, but explain to me what the advantage of a flop push is.

Edited to add--I also think 3 betting wins more money in this spot, anyway, b/c villain is usually inclined to call 3bet so as not to look like he was caught (semi)bluffing.

Like your explanation of the play.

I probably should have said raise more on the flop, rather than push. I just never have used this line before with the min reraise/lead turn. I'm not a big fan of minraises, if he is semibluffing here, he absolutely has to call the min raise because of odds.

Also, if he is semi-bluffing, what makes you think he won't just push over you on the turn with your 1/2 pot lead anyway? If someone pushes over you here do you just assume set? Do you check/fold a scare card on the turn?

Because to my experience, players at 50NL will take stabs at lagginess on the flop when they have position and you seem weak, but will not follow up with any substantial action on the turn if you play back at them. And yes, I absolutely assume set if pushed over on turn and would fold.

Well, but the whole point of my line here is to induce a bullshit positional flop raise from villain. Do you just think this is generally a bad line to take?

I think it's a great line to take IF u have seen villain raise his position. If you have no read on villain aren't sure there's a decent chance he'll bet his position you could be giving any draw juicy odds to smooth call.

Edit : that being said, it's not as if you min-bet it or anything... I'm not a fan a varying your bets all that much to "protect"... So 1/2-2/3 pot is fine.
