Why betting/shoving is worse than checking?
With standard 100BB stacks I'd play for stacks on river, it's probably top set vs lower set/2pair confrontation...and we are called by many lower hands, for the god's sake it's SET OF ACES, not tptk, and the board is rainbow. If he calls 2 barrels with TT and checks the river well, I pay him off.
I'd check that behind with just tptk.

Yeah he must have made some kind of draw off this. Probably the flush, guys love chasing them at these limits. You did everything you should though.

I think that the 8c on the river is the worst card to show up.
If it were any other card I definately would have put in a value bet.
Just wanted to get some feedback on this hand, as I wasn't sure what the best play was for the river.
Thanks for the help.

River play was good, check that right away... that's the worst card in the world.
But as for the flop bet, why so small? Already 2 draws out on the board that could derail your set, I bet $3-4 into $5.10 pot there. All it takes is one club for things to get really ugly for you.

I bet closer to $3.50 to $4 on flop.
Turn is ok;I accept a push as well.
River check is ok.

i would bet a good amount on the river if he has any thing he will reraise and you can fold if he doesnt he will fold he is probably afraid of the flush draw and you might be able to push him out with a worse hand then his if he made a straight you have to remember he looks at the board and has the same fears as you

I'm checking and calling here. He may have the flush or he could have lucked into the straight, but I wouldn't count on either. You are still strong and shouldn't give this pot up too easily.
Remember, he almost certainly was not drawing to the straight as it would have been a gutshot draw even after the turn.

The converter I used for Paradise didn't include them. I don't know why. I had $52.95 and UTG had $44.
Looking over the hand history I do think that I should have bet more on the flop. However, my standard c bet after a preflop raise was a$2 bet. Should I make it bigger because I have a monster?

You should never c-bet less than half the pot. Your standard should be at least half the pot. There are exceptions to this if there are a ton of people in the hand or if you are intentionally trying to control pot size, but in general, bet at least half the pot.
