I think I might bet the turn here, your heads up in a dry side pot and probably ahead. Get some insurance if the short stack has you beat, charge for a possible draw and get value from Jx weaker overpair.

Gotta love that river.

I think I play it the same, but not betting the turn might be a mistake

I think your beat on the flop by some donk playing A7sooted, and you both full housed on the river but you higher full housed him.

Couldn't do this since the shorty's raise was only $4 more to me.

Well here are the results. I didn't know whether to be happy I'd won the pot or disappointed to not get mhkorpio's stack. I guess his raise/bet button was broken.

SHOWDOWN
Hero shows [ AD,AH ]
timstraz mucks cards [ JD,10D ]
mhkorpi0 mucks cards [ JH,7H ]

This is good reasoning. When I was in the hand, these were my thoughts. If I do bet the turn, it would be something like $35, and if called, the pot would be around $150 on the river with me being out of position versus someone who smooth called both my flop and turn bets, very scary. Any bet on the river commits me, and I almost have to call a bet from him if I check. So basically I figured that if I bet the turn I was probably playing for stacks, something which I wasn't too crazy about.

If villian did have a flush draw, then betting the turn was clearly the right move. However, versus any other hand I believe the correct play is to check. If he has trips/boat, you don't want to be inflating the pot obviously, and if he does have Jx or some kind of 2-pair hand, he's drawing almost dead, so giving a free card wouldn't be horrible, especially with a dry side pot making villian less inclined to bet his Jx or QQ and to showdown cheap. So I figured if I checked the turn and he checked behind, I would value bet a blank river, but if I checked the turn and he bet out, I would have a real decision to make since betting out with trips/boat would be the standard and best play in villian's shoes. I still can't believe he didn't bet that turn or raise at some point in the hand. But luckily I sucked out on the river and didn't need to think so hard.
